Machines

Machines

Linux computers bots can use: Pocket cloud, your server, or your cloud account.

Nothing runs until you ask for it. Bots run in a short-lived sandbox by default and calls run on Pocket's shared engine, both included in the plan. A machine comes into the picture when you want something that stays: a dev server you keep open, a desktop, a database, a site, a bot with a long memory of files, or calls on your own hardware. A Pocket-hosted machine is metered by the hour at Google's price plus 30% while it runs and a fraction of that while it sleeps, and the day's total shows under Account → Plan; it sleeps on its own when idle and wakes when a bot or you need it. Your own server or cloud account costs nothing extra.

  • Pocket cloud (Pro and Team): Starter 2 vCPU / 2 GB, Standard 2 vCPU / 8 GB, Pro 4 vCPU / 16 GB, as Docker host, Node or Python. Billed by the hour while running, at Google's live regional rate.
  • Your server: anything you can SSH into. Paste a host and a password or key under Connect a server; Pocket installs a small outbound-only agent once and forgets the credentials. Free on every plan.
  • Your cloud: add a cloud account under Machines → Cloud accounts and Pocket creates machines in it; the cloud bills you directly. Credentials are encrypted at rest and only ever decrypted to make one call to the provider.

Projects on a machine

A project is a GitHub repository or a scratch folder; any machine can host several. Conversations run on the project's machine, diffs are reviewed hunk by hunk on the phone, and a pull request can be opened, fixed and merged from the app. On a team, team projects land on the shared machine, where every member works as their own Linux user: same box, separate files and processes.

Auto-suspend

A machine with nothing running suspends after 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour (you choose, or keep it always on). The disk is untouched and resume takes seconds. Automations, phone actions and calls wake it. A file at ~/.pocket/keep-awake or a busy CPU keeps it up.
