Get started

Install and sign in

Get the Android app, sign in with Google, and find your way around.

Install

Download the Android app from the download page. Chrome warns that the file is not from the Play Store; allow the install once when Android asks. Pocket signs in with Google only; there is no password to lose. Each Google account is its own workspace with its own plan, bots and data.

Permissions, once

Right after you sign in, Pocket asks for everything its bots use on this phone in one go: notifications; calls, texts, contacts and the microphone (so bots can call, text and look people up from your number when you ask); keeping Pocket running with the app closed; and Pocket's accessibility service, which lets a bot see the screen and tap for you without a prompt each time. One Allow runs Android's own prompts back to back, then opens the accessibility page, where the switch is yours to flip (on some phones it is under *Downloaded apps*; if Android greys it out for an app installed outside the Play Store, Pocket's app info page has *Allow restricted settings*). Everything here can be changed later under Account, and an update that needs something new asks again. The step is also at pocket:///permissions.

The screen

The top bar shows the project you are in (tap it to switch), and under it the conversation and a chip saying what the next message runs as: the bot, the model, the mode and the tools. Tap the chip to change any of them. The ⋯ menu holds a new conversation, pull requests, artifacts, project settings and the machine.

The side menu

Swipe from the left edge or tap your avatar. From top to bottom:

  • You or your team. Tap to switch between your personal workspace and any team you belong to.
  • Shortcuts: connect GitHub, connect a server, automations, what Pocket does.
  • Dashboards: every dashboard in this workspace by name, and + New.
  • Bots as a row of faces, then your projects with their conversations.
  • Pocket, Machines, Team, Phone, Account at the bottom. Phone is Pocket's own dialer (keypad, recents, contacts).

Talking instead of typing

The round button in the composer is a microphone while the field is empty: hold it to dictate, let go to send. With text in the field it becomes Send. + attaches photos, files or pasted text; @ mentions a bot or agent inline; a / runs a skill.

Switching accounts

Account → Sign out, then sign in with another Google account. Pocket always shows the account picker and clears the previous account's conversations and cache from the phone before loading the next one.
