Bots

Give a bot one job, the tools it needs, and a permission mode.

Every bot knows Pocket

Ask any bot how Pocket works and it reads these docs before answering: the same pages, through its pocket_help tool, so what it says matches the site. It can also look at your account and act on it with its account tool: which plan you are on and what is left of your credits and agent time, which keys are set, how calls are answered, what your phone allows, and your machines. It can create a machine, suspend or delete one, and switch Pocket Link calls between natural voices and the free on-device voice. In Agent mode each change waits for your tap; in Ask mode it only reads.

A bot is a brief (what it is for and how it should behave), a model, and the tools it may use. Bots run headless: they keep working when the app is closed, on the phone's schedule or in the cloud. Make one from Bots → + New in the side menu.

Making one

  • Start from a template (phone-call bots, WhatsApp bots) or blank, then write the brief the way you would brief a new hire: what it does, what it must ask me about, what it never does.
  • Answer my calls makes it the bot on inbound calls (Twilio, or your own SIM with Pocket Link or root). Answer WhatsApp messages runs it on every message to the connected number.
  • Teach it your business: the knowledge it may answer from and the media it may send.
  • Connect in Tools & MCP: the connectors and HTTP tools it may use.

The bot's page

  • Everything it did: its conversations, newest first.
  • What it remembers: the notes it keeps between conversations. Add one with *Teach it something…*, edit or forget any of them.
  • Routines: what wakes it on a schedule or a webhook.
  • Set-up: permission mode, home project, notifications, on calls. Retire stops it without deleting its history.

Permission modes

  • Ask is read-only unless you approve: the bot can look things up (leads, metrics, dashboards) but asks before sending, calling or changing anything.
  • Agent acts, but each text, call or risky command waits for your tap.
  • Autonomous acts on its own within the tools you enabled.

Teams of bots

Split work into bots with one job each: a callback bot, an inbox bot, a collections bot, a reporter that posts numbers to a dashboard each morning, a chief of staff that asks the others what they did and writes the evening summary. Mention a bot with @name in any conversation to hand it a task; a bot can hand work to another with run_bot, and several hand-offs in one step run in parallel. When several bots or phones share a list they claim items first, so no number is called twice.

Every morning at 9, read yesterday's CRM metrics.
On the "Morning briefing" dashboard, update the tiles
"calls-yesterday" and "hot-now", and add a one-line note
with anything unusual. Don't message anyone.
