Receptionist

An AI receptionist that answers your business number, books the slot and confirms on WhatsApp

Every missed call is a customer who rang someone else. Pocket's Receptionist answers on your number, takes the booking or message, and confirms on WhatsApp before you look at your phone.

Calls answered, logged and followed up from one app.

A clinic, a salon, a tutor or a coaching centre doesn't lose customers to bad service. It loses them to a phone that rang while everyone was busy. The caller doesn't leave a voicemail. They ring the next name on the list.

The Receptionist is a Pocket bot that answers those calls. It speaks English, Hindi or Hinglish, finds out what the caller needs, and does the follow-up work itself: the booking, the CRM entry, the WhatsApp confirmation, and a message to you when a person is needed.

What a call looks like

  1. The phone rings on your number and the Receptionist picks up with your business name.
  2. It works out why they called: a question, an appointment, a change to a booking, a complaint, or someone they want to reach.
  3. Questions are answered from what you taught it (hours, services, prices, location). Anything it doesn't know becomes a message, never a guess.
  4. For an appointment it takes the service, the day and time they'd like, a second choice and their name, and says the confirmation is coming on WhatsApp.
  5. For a person, it transfers the call to you (on a business line) or takes a message with how urgent it is.
  6. When the call ends, a second step gets the transcript and every tool the bot has. It books the slot in your calendar or bookings, files the lead in the CRM, and sends the WhatsApp confirmation with date, time and address.

Three ways to connect your number

  • A Twilio number (available now). Connect your own Twilio account in Voice, pick the Receptionist for inbound calls, and it answers there. Transfers to you work on this line.
  • Your own SIM, on a rooted Android phone (available now, for tinkerers). Pocket's root mode lets the bot talk on calls to the number your customers already have saved.
  • Your own SIM with Pocket Link (in testing). A small, open-source USB-C dongle that makes any Android phone hand call audio to the bot, with no root. We'll publish the hardware and firmware when the phone tests pass.

Set it up in five minutes

  1. In the app, open Bots → New bot and pick Receptionist under *Phone call bots*.
  2. Pick the project it works in, and leave Answer my calls on.
  3. Tell it about your business: hours, services, prices, address, and the ten questions you hear most. Connect your calendar or Pocket bookings and the CRM if you use them.
  4. Call your number from another phone and listen. The transcript and what it did afterwards show up in the app.

More than one kind of call

  • After-hours line: says when you open, handles what's urgent by your rules, and books a callback for the next working day.
  • Reminder caller: rings customers before appointments or due dates and confirms, reschedules or cancels.
  • Lead callback: calls a new enquiry within minutes, qualifies it and books the next step for your team.

What it costs

You bring your own keys: Twilio for the line, and your speech and model providers (Sarvam, ElevenLabs, Deepgram, Cartesia, or any supported model). They bill you directly at their prices, and Pocket adds no per-minute markup. The Free plan runs one bot on one channel, so a Receptionist on your calls costs nothing on our side. Pro adds every channel and always-on bots.
